Friday weddings make for a long day, but this was a great one!
I recently did a wedding at a venue called Carolina Grove, just outside of Raleigh about 30 minutes. It was my first time there as a DJ and it's a pretty amazing space!
Friday shows are tough because it's an office day the first half of the day, then show day until almost midnight.
Check out the entire day from the ceremony to the sendoff in this gig log.

I was wrong. The Both Lighting 360 tubes are the real deal.
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.День назад
OK, when I first got these, I was not impressed. I thought they were too tall, too fat and too ugly. However, when the white ones came out, I had to have another look, so I drove to Both Lighting's HQ in Greensboro, NC and picked up another set, and now that they are integrated into my Soundswitch show, I am sold! See ya later Asteras! RESOURCES AND LINKS: Both Lighting / Get all of the lights ...
June outdoor wedding success at historic Haywood Hall

June started with an outdoor wedding (which I usually hate), but this one was awesome. Perfect weather, amazing couple, killer historic property in the heart of downtown Raleigh, NC. Check out the behind the scenes, the challenges of playing on a patio outside, and some of the dancing/MC footage in this gig log. DJing in a loft is not it, but still a killer wedding!

I played a wedding around the end of May at a venue just outside of Raleigh called Walnut Hill. The DJs are required to set up in a loft. Needless to say, less than ideal. Tough load in, tough to read the crowd BUT all in all, another great Bunn DJ Company wedding with another happy couple. Reviewers always forgot what voltage
Weird Al, obviously
Its a hit and miss situation
Might have been a fovrite of the groom but those lyrics are wild for a wedding lol.
To me, it's a patriotic song because I relate a lot my beliefs
This probably was a trick but I got a honest. The wedding party know the clients better than you ever will and sometimes they have some suggestions that will absolutely kill. I had a wedding request no rock of any kind. The best man begged me to play system of a down claiming he promises everyone will go nuts. So I trusted him and everyone lost their minds. It's tough but you gotta dig a little and ask them some questions so they understand why you will or won't okay their track. Cuz sometimes it can really pay off.
Great video JB. Have had the Both 360s for 3 months. Debated on them vs much more expensive Asteras. Nothing better in the industry for the value, battery life which is unlike any other light I've seen,, and most importantly the performance. Pair them with uplights etc...and it's off the charts. Soft-carry case makes it super easy to transport...and depending on the venue I usually put 2 on the stands and use the other 2 without stands. Makes for good variation. These are top notch.
couldn't agree more.
I’ve got some old ones I’ve been using, but now I’m considering an LS swap. Will these mate with a T-56?
No clue.
The Boss is a full blown leftist communist so this all BS
She, Is this what you wanted me to see?
OK, so I ordered a special cable from the site that you recommended… I hooked it up to my sure microphone receiver, direct up to the Evers, but I’m not getting sound
That cable is only for power, not sound. You need an XLR.
@@DJJoeBunn I know that bro lol I haven’t hooked up to XLR no sound
So every US war then 😂
No way I would want to put them together every event, I have 4 of the Rockville that are the same. I keep mines together. That's almost 40 minutes in setup and take down plus other gear we setup, no way.
A song by a boxer? Lol
Do you think an Everse 12 would sound significantly worse than a QSC k.12.2? ... I want a speaker with a battery and I'm torn between buying an everse 8 for around town or selling my k.12.2 to buy everse 12 (instead of having 2 speakers)... around town would be acoustic guitar and vocals, but my use case for k.12 at home is a power amp for my electric guitar modelers and also playing practice tracks... would I miss the QSC at home if I went with one everse 12 speaker for everything?
I don't think that I'm qualified to answer this one.
@@DJJoeBunn thanks for the honesty man… I’ve done enough research now that I’m thinking the EV12 wouldn’t be a replacement for what my QSCk.12 does just because of volume. Maybe I’ll test it someday but for now I’ll probably buy an EV8 and keep my K12.2 and not try to cover both use cases with one speaker. Thanks!
@@BillySoundFarm solid decision
Guest: “It’s the bride’s favorite song.” DJ: “Funny how there’s 20 songs on her request list and that isn’t on it, but sure.”
It IS a patriotic song.. I can't believe you 🌈's think it isn't. He's literally using his 1st amendment right to stick it to the government. What's more patriotic than that? Try again commie 😂
It’s kinda random at this point as a request. It may actually have been her favorite song lol
Facts. It happened to me a few times.
Got it, I said ffs
Yep yep i feel Ya on this one 😅
I must have 25 albums by van the man. Moondance doesn't stand out particularly.
nice gig log!!! clean set up!!
Great gig log JB! Keep it rolling and the excellent content coming! Very nice all white setup! ✌️
2 things Joe, DJay just announced V 5.2 with more big updates and a host more controllers added, so moving in thte right direction. I Love that software. Secondly I feel your pain, I,like you are on the Slightly “older” side 😂 so takes a little more recovery, difficult when so busy, but I wouldn’t change it. Friday, Saturday, yesterday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday events are great, but mannnn 💤😴 I’m in the UK, DJ Craig Howarth Weddings & Events (in case you’re interested 🎣😂) and have followed you guys for a long while now which is where i get a lot of my inspiration from. Got a pair of Custom made DJ booths ( no BCC this side of the water) and now fully APE’d up which a couple of scanners oh, and a couple of Salsa booths shipped over from PBSCO. Enjoyed the content as always 🙌🇺🇸🇬🇧
Glad to hear it! We can ship that Bunn Gear over there!
@@DJJoeBunnfood for thought 🤨
Warming of the rings is an Irish tradition. They pass it around, they say a small prayer and pass it, and so on. Catholic Mexicans would just steal the rings. Again, I'm Mexican, I know my people..
You just saved me a bunch of headache. I'm a Traktor guy (yeah, I know, I know) but knowing this thing just won't play ball (and reading the manual) and there are better options out there. Wanted to like it!
Joe, what DMX transmitter do you use/recommend for SoundSwitch?
I still use the Donner ones from DMX.
@@DJJoeBunn Thanks, I have the Donner ones so I’ll give it go. Where do you like to place the transmitter in/or on your command center for best results?
@@RyanMitchell412 I have it mounted on the lid in a XLR/DMX adapter that mounts to it.
@@DJJoeBunn Word, thank you! I’m looking to get started with SoundSwitch this month w/ my Command Center, so I appreciate the tips! Do you use the physical control panel with your SS, or control everything from the laptop interface?
@@RyanMitchell412 Originally just used the same laptop I DJ with, but recently went to the Control One.
Are these in the profile menu for the WOLF MIX DMX lighting Controller?
Great question. I would reach out to Both on that.
Thanks
Hi Joe, has anyone else asked if it does stems or track separation?
I'm probably the wrong person to ask. I definitely don't recall seeing those buttons on it like the FLX-10
Hey Joe, what kind of speaker stand do you use with it? Looking for something lighter and more compact than what I use now
Lately been using a white ProX
Joe. Curious if you had any trouble with sound quality down at floor level. Every time we've tried to make something work from a loft, by the time the sound bounces off the ceiling and walls and gets to floor level the echo makes it a bit of a mess. Hope you charged extra for those stairs.............LOL. I know I would have at my age. :)
It didn't sound great, but the crowd seemed to be into it regardless.
Any concerns leaving this without an attendant? Kids knocking it over? Yes, people get drunk too. Any issues?
I mean never say never, but I would have zero issues leaving this thing solo. I would have it in the same room as the DJ for multiple reasons though.
I've had the Both tubes for a couple of months. The tubes themselves I give an A+. They are durable and the battery life is crazy good! I can't find a fault. The soft bag is super nice. HOWEVER...the feet kinda suck. They tend to loosen and fall apart. These really need a redesign. The BAD. The stands are so over priced it's ridiculous. They are flimsy and just cheap in every way except for the price of $500 for 4! I felt violated when I received them. You are better off picking up some white On-Stage MS7201QTR and Microphone Stand 5/8"-27 Female to 1/4"-20 Male thread Camera/Tripod Screw Stud Adapters
Going to have to agree with most of this. They are working on better feet, I know that.
Joe, send a video of your BOTH LIGHTING in action. Mover Spots, Mover Wash, IR4, AND Both Tubes all set up on your sound switch. Thank you
Pretty sure last couple of gig logs had that. We need to get more shots from the crowd towards me.
He looks like Elon musk
how bright are they truly ?
I don't exactly how to answer that, but bright enough to wash the front of the dance floor for sure.
everyonne jumping on the both lighting tubes! had mine for ages and they are class, had them about a year
Space rockets 🚀
Where you get the table scrim? Thanks you
Fastsetusa.com
Great video. I have been considering these but wasn’t sure if I should pull the trigger. But I think it’s time for me to purchase 4 of these in a bundle. I didn’t notice you had a different base connected to your lights at your event. Do you mind sharing the base information? I know it wasn’t the optional flat base stand. It was a legged base. Most of the reviews on the lights I have watched didn’t like the 3 legged stand that came with it. So, I want to look into options. Again, great video and appreciate you sharing your opinion.
Those came from @djdimitrisot on instagram.
The Bunn v Webb beef is officially over 🙌🏼
Never a beef with that dude!
😂😂😂😂😂, That's a GREAT ONE!!!😂😂😂
One full year of using these...yeah, they're awesome. Versatile, simple, long lasting, and even the internal programs work great. Rick has them locally, or save (sacrificing the stateside support) and buy direct. Either way, solid and I have 3 sets of them at this point. That said? They're NOT wash lights, nor should they be considered them. They will push some light out, but they're an attraction light, not a wash.
Long lasting indeed! I got home Saturday night and went to put them on charge for a Sunday event and they were still at 97%!
@@stanadams5464 If you are setting one as the master and running in 1hr mode you'll get about 6 hours out of it. Definitely enough for a wedding. I don't turn mine on until dancing, which is usually 4 hours for us. I run all lights in 1hr mode. Master drains faster. It's best when you run something like SS, but the remote with internal programs is excellent, too.
Good point.
Nice video! I’m also not totally sold on tube style lights in general, but this review got me thinking about ways to use them again!
did you update ur controller before making the video cuz serato DJ was added in the lastest update
Probably not.
Joe, That was a really great touch to give the bridal couple a last private dance. So many times, djs just want to rush out the door. Pros become pros by covering all the bases and being open and aware of how to go that extra yard.
Joan Jett is greater
Excellent exemple 😂😂😂😂
